Slaley is a rural
location with spectacular views to the North over the Roman wall to the
Scottish border, strategically placed quite close to the geographic centre of
Britain.
The peace and quiet
from traditionally tranquil industries of farming and forestry shattered only
by the sometimes constant light and noise pollution of the local motorcycle
scramble track, echoing gunfire from the local grouse moors, large bore
shooting sports activities, the 4x4 driving range and rough terrain buggies of
the prestigious De Vere (now AHG Venice Ltd.) Slaley
Hall hotel. The RAF also provides regular aerial displays of low flying speed
and noise of which some are envious. Golf at Slaley Hall is in keeping with the
original tranquil surroundings and is actively encouraged. Wind turbines are
also planned to dominate the skyline in the near future.
